The Connecticut Report of Court-Appointed Guardian Ad Item (New 1/14) is a document used by the Connecticut Judicial Branch to appoint a Guardian Ad Item (GAL) to a minor child involved in a court case. The GAL is a court-appointed attorney who serves as a “friend of the court” and advocates for the best interests of the child. The Connecticut Report of Court-Appointed Guardian Ad Item (New 1/14) includes the appointment of the GAL, the duties of the GAL, the qualifications of the GAL, and the fees associated with the appointment. There are three types of Connecticut Report of Court-Appointed Guardian Ad Item (New 1/14): 1) Initial Appointment; 2) Reappointment; and 3) Termination.
