Alabama Notification of International Travel of Sex Offender is a program within the state of Alabama that requires registered sex offenders to notify the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (AREA) if they plan to travel outside the United States. This program is designed to maintain the safety and security of Alabama citizens by ensuring that sex offenders are not crossing foreign borders to commit crimes. There are two types of Alabama Notification of International Travel of Sex Offender: Initial Notification and Notification of Return. Initial Notification requires registered sex offenders to provide AREA with their travel itinerary, passport information, contact information, and other relevant information at least seven days prior to their departure. Notification of Return requires registered sex offenders to provide AREA with their travel itinerary, passport information, contact information, and other relevant information within seven days of their return to the United States.
