The Alabama Certificate of Service is a document issued by the State of Alabama to certify that an individual has served in the Alabama National Guard, Alabama State Defense Force, or Alabama Naval Militia. This document is typically issued to veterans who have served in the Alabama National Guard for more than six months. There are two types of Alabama Certificate of Service: the Standard Certificate of Service and the Special Certificate of Service. The Standard Certificate of Service is issued to all Alabama National Guard members who have served at least six months in active duty. The Special Certificate of Service is issued to individuals who have served more than six months in a combat zone or have been awarded the Alabama Medal of Valor.
