You can renew your registration online if: You have a valid credit card, debit card, or checking account. You know the last 5 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or the Hull Identification Number (HIN) for your vehicle or vessel.
When a vehicle owner indicates they did not receive a renewal notice, the vehicle record must be reviewed to determine if there are any conditions that would prevent a renewal notice from being generated.

If you didn't receive a renewal notice in the mail you can contact your local CA DMV branch or call (800) 777-0133. To avoid missed renewal notices in the future, if you move, make sure you update your new address with the CA DMV.
