Sometimes, future employers might ask for proof of the volunteer experience listed on your resume. As you may not have had a formal employment contract, it is often a good idea to ask for a volunteer verification letter or community service letter from the place where you volunteered.
A code of conduct for volunteers defines the standards of behaviour expected of volunteers in order to ensure that: the charity is effective, open and accountable; volunteers have productive and supportive relationships with each other and employees and other persons who interact with the charity.
Typically you can provide references from people you worked with- their name, phone number, email address and their position within the organization with whom you volunteered.
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, especially if you are new to an area. Volunteering also strengthens your ties to the community and broadens your support network, exposing you to people with common interests, neighborhood resources, and fun and fulfilling activities.
