Description

The Roommate Agreement for College in Sacramento is a vital legal document designed for individuals sharing living spaces while attending college. This agreement stipulates the financial responsibilities of roommates concerning rent, household expenses, and the division of chores. Each roommate is responsible for equal rent payments, which are due on a specified date, maintaining an organized financial structure. In cases where a roommate wishes to terminate their tenancy, a 30-day notice is required, and they must help find a replacement. The document includes provisions regarding guests, the handling of security deposits, and rules about smoking and alcohol use within the apartment. This form is especially useful for attorneys, partners, owners, associates, paralegals, and legal assistants as it provides clarity and enforces accountability among roommates, reducing potential conflicts. Its straightforward language and structured format make it accessible even for users with limited legal experience, ensuring that all parties understand their rights and obligations. Additionally, it can serve as a reference in disputes, contributing to a harmonious living environment.

FAQ

Select your top two Residential Learning Community (RLC) preferences. Choose from academic, social, identity, and interest-based communities. Request up to two roommates, for a maximum group size of three. You can add roommates once they have secured housing and their RLC preferences must match yours.

If you are looking for a roommate to move into a housing unit with or are looking for a roommate for a place you already live in, you can use the Sacramento State Roommate Finder to find one.

Many colleges have a matching system to pair you with your future roommate. If they do not, they might do it manually within their housing department. If you are going to an in-state college or going to a college with someone you know, you have the opportunity to choose your future roommate if you so wish.

Students who intend to move into the residence halls after the academic year has begun (mid-fall, winter, or spring quarter) and desire to live with a particular roommate should contact Student Housing to determine availability and the appropriate process.

Private – you may be able to choose your own housemates in private accommodation, e.g. if a few of your friends are going to the same uni. A lot of students go into private accommodation in their second year, when they can choose to live with people they've met during their first year.

In order to secure a preferred roommate, both students must complete the following action items: One student MUST request the other through the Online Housing Portal. Once on the online housing portal, revisit your housing contract in order to search for and/or request a roommate.

You may request roommate(s) if you have a shared space accommodation. We make every possible effort to place students with mutual requests. Roommate preferences are made via your online housing application - select 'Search for Roommates'.
