FAQ

Look for the preferred roommate block on the University Housing application. Search for your roommate and then add him/her to your application. All roommate requests must be mutual, so remind your preferred roommate to accept his/her roommate request in MyPack Portal in order to complete the process.

Many if not all US colleges (that have any form of dorms) will require the freshmen to live in a dorm for at least the first term or the first year. Or, the parents will need to sign a waiver for the student to live off-campus (at home or with a guardian approved by the parents).

First things first: Living on campus is often a requirement for freshmen. You may be exempt if you have a good enough reason. But generally, you should prepare to live in the dorms if you're a first-year student. Get extra prepared by reviewing our guide on what to expect as a college freshman.

Facilities Liaisons can submit work order requests through AiM Work Management. Unless your request is an emergency, it is best to contact your building's Facilities Liaison who will submit a work request through AiM Work Management system. Or you can call the Customer Service Center at 919-515-2991.

Living on campus is an essential part of the Wolfpack experience: that's why students are required to live in University Housing their first year. When you live on campus, you'll be at the heart of the Wolfpack nation, making it easy to be a part of all that NC State has to offer.

While all NC State students are encouraged to live on-campus, graduate students and transfer students are not required to live on campus and housing may be subject to availability. We offer residential options for students, faculty and staff.

First-year college students often are expected or required to live in residence halls or dormitories. In subsequent years, it's usually up to those students to decide whether to reside on or off campus.

Yes! Please complete the roommate request form and email it as soon as possible. It is important that roommates request each other. Without mutual requests, the roommate request is not complete and will not be considered.

All current students who want to live in on-campus housing (including Living and Learning Villages) for the upcoming school year must complete a Room Selection Application by the application deadline.
