Students wishing to live in the residence halls must request a residence and dining hall contract directly from the office or can download the contract at housing.unlv. Housing is available on a first come first-served basis to any full-time, regularly enrolled student.
If you wish to request a specific roommate, please add the request in the housing portal. Your requested roommate will receive the request and accept on their end to match you as roommates. If you do not have a roommate you will have the opportunity to find one during our roommate matching.
Starting in March, you have the option to search for a roommate in the housing portal. If you don't want to choose a roommate, you will receive a random roommate (about half of our residents choose to live with a random roommate).
A Roommate Agreement is a written contract between roommates that outlines their rights and obligations while living together. This agreement includes house rules, maintenance duties, restricted behaviors, and more. For a Roommate Agreement to be useful, everyone sharing the household must agree to it.
Requesting a room change Room changes can be requested through your housing portal during our room-change periods. A room change includes moving to an open space in your current building or into an open space in a different building. Room changes are not guaranteed and are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Many colleges have a matching system to pair you with your future roommate. If they do not, they might do it manually within their housing department. If you are going to an in-state college or going to a college with someone you know, you have the opportunity to choose your future roommate if you so wish.
