Founded in 1947, Sac State has grown into one of the region's leading centers of research, innovation, and community engagement. It is a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution.
All fraternities and sororities share the values of scholarship, leadership, service, and brotherhood/sisterhood. The Sacramento State Greek community is very strong, and all of the chapters fulfill their duties to achieve excellence in these areas.
Joining a fraternity or sorority at Sacramento State is a great way to meet new people and get involved in the Hornet community! Membership in Greek organizations provide students access to essential leadership and professional development experiences while also preparing them for life after graduation.
Our fraternity and sorority community consists of over 60 fraternities and sororities with a total membership of 3,500 undergraduate students.
Sac State offers roughly 55 undergraduate majors within eight academic colleges. The most popular majors include business administration, criminal justice and corrections, and communication and media studies.
Go Greek! The Panhellenic Sorority Council at Sacramento State requires enrollment in at least six (6) semester units to be eligible to join a sorority. There will be no exceptions to this rule. In the spring, Panhellenic sororities participate in what is known as Continuous Open Bidding or COB for short!
