3. Texas. As the saying goes: Everything is bigger in Texas—including economic opportunity for small businesses. The Lone Star State's favorable business climate is based largely on its low taxes, large and highly educated skilled workforce, pro-business laws, and favorable tax codes.
Harris County created the $30 million Harris County Business Relief Fund to accelerate recovery for microenterprises and small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund provided grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 to eligible microenterprises and small businesses located inside Harris County.
A small business employer is an employer with fewer than 15 employees at a particular time. If an employer has 15 or more employees at a particular time, they are no longer a small business employer.
Small businesses can apply to Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) for training provided by a local community college. TWC will process the application and work with colleges to fund the courses. The business is then able to select the courses to customize training to their needs.
