Withdrawing from Classes Once the Fall or Spring Terms Have Begun. If a student withdraws from all courses, the student will be placed on a Leave of Absence for the semester. Between Week 1 and Week 4 (actual dates are published in the academic calendar) a student may drop a course(s) on-line by logging onto MySuffolk.
If a student wishes to withdraw prior to the 10th week (or equivalent) of class, the student must submit the online Withdrawal Request Form found under Self Service forms on the Registrar's page on The Q.
After the add/drop period, students may request a withdrawal from a course(s) via Banner under the Course Withdrawal Options. Students will be able to withdraw from one or more courses (at least one course will remain on schedule) or withdraw from all courses (no courses will remain on schedule).
A student may withdraw from a course and receive a W any time during the course withdrawal period. To officially withdraw from a class, complete the Course Withdrawal form and submit it to the Registrar office within the Course Withdrawal Period listed above.
Students who wish to withdraw from all courses prior to the start of the term, must contact the Student Affairs Office at 617-573-8239, located on the 12th floor of 73 Tremont Street, and submit a Leave of Absence Form or a Withdrawal Form. The Leave of Absence Form and Withdrawal Forms are available online.
Students officially withdraw from a course by dropping it via the SOLAR System or in person at the Registrar's Office. Students withdrawing from all their courses (or withdrawing from the University) may do so in writing or in person at the Registrar's Office.
Include Relevant Personal and Academic Information In addition to your reason for withdrawing, you should include any other relevant personal or academic information that may explain your situation. For example, if you're withdrawing due to a medical issue, you may include medical documentation to support your request.
Keep it simple and to the point. Example: "I am writing to inform you that I have decided to withdraw from the course. Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, I am unable to continue with the course at this time. I appreciate the opportunity to have been a part of this course and wish you all the best."
After careful consideration, I would like to withdraw my application for the job. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to interview me and to share information on the opportunity and your company. Again, thank you for your consideration and the time you shared.
If a student wishes to withdraw or take a leave of absence from a term, the student must contact the Office of Student Affairs to complete the appropriate forms. The date the student contacts Student Affairs is the official withdrawal date.
