Some schools even require students to wear uniforms. Most often, though, dress codes ban clothes that the district considers revealing, distracting, controversial, or pose a safety threat to students.

The following two factors determine a student's eligibility to enroll in FCPS: Residency: Children must be living with a parent and residing in Fairfax County. Age: Children must be age 5 or older by September 30.
Students must be between the ages of 4 and 6. Minimum age for kindergarten entrance is 4 years 7 months before the first day of the school year. LEA may require students admitted to kindergarten to attain the age of 5 on or before August 31 and January 1.
