NBA and WNBA players will be wearing Nike uniforms until at least 2037 under a 12-year contract extension the leagues announced Monday.
That agreement, worth around $1 billion, marked the first time an apparel partner had its logo on an NBA or WNBA jersey. By comparison, Adidas' deal was valued at $400 million over 11 years.
Subsequent generations have brought about a few more athletes deemed worthy of exceptionally long-lasting endorsements, from four-time NBA championship winner LeBron James to World Cup winner Cristiano Ronaldo, both of whom are signed to Nike with lifetime deals.
