A: Anywhere between 14 to 90 days after closing. A properly recorded deed can take anywhere from 14 days to 90 days. That may seem like a long time, but your local government office goes over every little detail on the deed to make sure the property is correct and there are no errors.
Rules for Recorded Documents At least the top 2-½ inches of the first page shall be reserved for recording information. The left 3-½ inches of this space shall be used by the public to show the name of the person requesting recording and the name and address to which the document is to be returned following recording.
Documents presented by p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) are recorded the same day.
Visiting the County Recorder's Office: Places like the Los Angeles County Recorder's Office or the San Bernardino County Recorder's Office maintain an extensive archive of property records. Here, you can look up your deed and request a copy.
If you want to request one of these files, you may order it. Go to the Civil Records Unit in the Gordon D. Schaber Sacramento County Courthouse Room 102, or call the Civil Records Unit at 916-874-7186. Most civil court files are public records and may be viewed by anyone.
Owner information​ is available by contacting the Assessor's Office​. Public Information may be viewed on our lobby computers. The lobby is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Public information may be also be purchased.
In Sacramento County, as in many counties, the recorder's office is combined with the county clerk's office. The office is located at: 3636 American River Drive, Ste. 110, Sacramento CA 95864, and can be phoned at (916) 874-6334.
As of January 16, 2024, Sacramento County Superior Court has expanded electronic filing (e-Filing) to Civil cases handled at the Gordon D. Schaber Courthouse and Hall of Justice Building. Until further notice, e-Filing is permissive (optional) for all parties.
All claims of personal injury or property damage against the City of Sacramento must be filed in the Office of the City Clerk. The City Clerk's Office is the only office to which claims may be submitted. Claims received by the Office of the City Clerk are forwarded to the City's Liability Claims Administrator.
