All deferral requests must be submitted in writing through King's Apply stating the reason for deferral. The King's Admissions Office will respond with further advice. Deferral requests must be received before the end of the enrolment period for scheduled start of the programme.
Eligibility criteria for contextual offers Contextual offers are made to applicants who may have experienced barriers that have impeded their academic progress. Contextual offers may be up to two A-Level grades (or equivalent) lower than the advertised entry requirements found on the course pages.

King's considers mitigating circumstances to be unforeseen circumstances, outside an applicant's control, that have a significant and detrimental effect on their academic performance or assessment. There is no definitive list, as all instances are considered on an individual case by case basis.
Deferred entry / gap years King's is happy to consider you if you wish to take a year out to gain some specific experience, earn funds in preparation for your studies or generally broaden your interests. However, deferrals may not be granted on competitive health courses such as medicine or dentistry.
