Currently, Florida law requires that anyone who provides child care in their home for more than one unrelated family must be either registered or licensed through the Department of Children and Families.
About the Exams Exams are multiple choice and are available in English or Spanish. You will take a different exam for each course, and you can take more than one exam per day. You will be given 45 minutes for each exam.
The director credential has three levels: Level I, Level II, or Advanced. All three levels may be used to meet licensing compliance and participation in the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Program, pursuant to Chapter 6A-6.040(1)(a), F.A.C. documenting date degree and/or coursework was completed.
While Florida has no law for a minimum age to babysit, most experts say age 12 is a good age to consider light babysitting responsibility such as an hour or so while parents run an errand. However, there are several other factors to consider before allowing your child to care for siblings or other children.
Core Requirements Accredited High School Diploma or G.E.D. 30-Hour Part I Department of Children and Families (DCF) Introductory Child Care Training. 8 hours of in-service training regarding children with Disabilities (DCF's Special Needs Appropriate Practices course will meet this requirement.)
