File this form and all supporting documentation with the appraisal district office in each county in which the property is located generally between Jan. 1 and April 30 of the year for which the exemption is requested. Do not file this document with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.

How will I know if my exemption is approved? Chief appraisers are required to send written notice when an application is modified or denied, but not when they are approved. Check with the appraisal district office to be sure.

Applications for property tax exemptions are filed with the appraisal district in the county in which the property is located. The general deadline for filing an exemption application is before May 1. Appraisal district chief appraisers are solely responsible for determining whether property qualifies for an exemption.
