Homestead Exemption Policy. One can be granted a homestead exemption if the single-family residence is their primary residence on October 1 of the tax year for which the property owner is applying. Deadline to apply is December 31st.
To qualify for the Homestead Exemption, the property must be the owner's primary residence and be owner-occupied. Currently, Upper Gwynedd is offering a $30,000 exemption on the assessed valuation of your property.

If you are over 65 years of age, or permanent and totally disabled (regardless of age), or blind (regardless of age), you are exempt from the state portion of property tax. County taxes may still be due. Please contact your local taxing official to claim your homestead exemption.
Homestead Exemption 1 is available to all residents of Alabama who own and occupy a single-family residence, including mobile homes, as their home and use this property for no other purposes. The exemption is up to $4,000 in assessed value for state taxes and up to $2,000 in assessed value for county taxes.
