The owner or owner's spouse must not be receiving a homestead (or similar) exemption on another property located elsewhere in Rhode Island or in any other state. The owner of the property must physically reside in the subject property for more than six months of the year.
The California Constitution provides for the exemption of $7,000 (maximum) in assessed value from the property tax assessment of any property owned and occupied as the owner's principal place of residence. The exemption reduces the annual property tax bill for a qualified homeowner by up to $70.
Some customers are exempt from paying sales tax under Rhode Island law. Examples include government agencies, some nonprofit organizations, and merchants purchasing goods for resale. Sellers are required to collect a valid exemption or resale certificate from buyers to validate each exempt transaction.

Owner-occupied single-family residences that are remodeled or renovated may be eligible for property tax relief. If approved (by King County), owners who timely apply will receive an exemption of up to 30% of the original structure value for three years.
Provides tax relief to a domiciled resident who is the legal owner of residential property on or before December 31st of each year and which property is the principal residence (owner-occupied) of said person.
Program provides state-funded tax credit to senior and disabled homeowners and renters whose property taxes exceed between 3% and 6% of their household income. For renters, property tax is calculated at 20% of annual rent. The maximum credit is $675 for tax year 2024.
Washington provides property tax relief for Veterans that have a disability rating of 80% or higher. The relief amount is based on income, the value of the residence and the local levy rates. Widows of disabled Veterans are also eligible.
You may qualify for a deferral of your property tax liability if: You are 60 or older, or retired because of physical disability. You own the home in which you live and occupy it at least nine months a year. Your household income for 2023 was $88,998 or less.
