Description

The Multi-state Employment Law Handbook is a comprehensive guide addressing the rights, protections, and benefits offered to employees under U.S. federal employment laws, specifically relevant for those impacted by COVID-19 in the Bronx. It outlines key aspects of employment law, including wages, hours, leave provisions, and worker protections in the context of workplace safety and health, particularly as they relate to pandemic-related regulations. It highlights the Family and Medical Leave Act, emphasizing job-protected leave eligibility for health-related issues stemming from COVID-19. The guide serves as a useful resource for legal professionals such as attorneys, partners, owners, associates, paralegals, and legal assistants by providing foundational information that aids in case preparations, client advisories, and catering specifically to the unique challenges that have arisen post-pandemic, such as workplace discrimination and employee rights during illness. For effective use, the form encourages users to consult with local agencies or lawyers for specific guidance and to uphold compliance with evolving federal and state laws. It emphasizes the importance of understanding federal protections while considering variations in state laws, making it a crucial tool for navigating the current legal landscape in the Bronx.

If you test positive for COVID-19, stay home for 5 days. After 5 days, if you are asymptomatic or your symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours) you may return to work, but you should wear a mask around others for the following 5 days.

Isolate right away if you have symptoms. Stay home until you have no fever for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medicine and other COVID-19 symptoms are getting better.

Everyone, regardless of vaccination status. Stay home for 5 days. If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house. Continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.

After exposure, even if asymptomatic. If it is not possible to get a test 5 days after the last close contact with someone with COVID-19, quarantine can end after day 5 if there have been NO COVID-19 symptoms throughout the 5-day period.

Updated Guidance: The updated Respiratory Virus Guidance recommends that people stay home and away from others until at least 24 hours after both their symptoms are getting better overall, and they have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).

If you are experiencing symptoms or were exposed, get tested. If you test positive, stay home and talk to your healthcare provider about treatment.
