A month to month tenancy in Maryland can be terminated with one month's notice by either party.
A landlord may give a written 30-day breach of lease and intent to terminate tenancy notice that states the alleged violation of the lease at any time during the tenancy. The landlord can give this written 30-day breach notice immediately upon discovery of the breach.
If a landlord does not want to renew a tenant's lease, the landlord must provide a 60-day notice to vacate. This requirement applied to month-to-month leases, long term leases, multifamily and/or single family rentals. The landlord is not required to state a reason for the notice.
What Happens If You Don't Give 30-days' Notice To Vacate? If you do not provide your tenant with adequate notice, you will not have the legal grounds to end the tenancy.
Annual Leases – Terminating or non-renewing a standard 12-month lease requires 90 days' notice. No Written Lease – Although this is never recommended, there are times landlords and tenants may not have a valid written lease. If so, the law requires a 21-day notice period.

Sincerely yours, X your address, City, State zip code.
If you are not on the lease or didn't sign any contract to that apartment, than you are welcome to leave any time. but if your name is on there, than you wont be able to leave, until the lease or whatever agreement is up.
In the US, if you're switching to a different school district, there are no requirements. You can switch immediately. Sometimes families have to move unexpectedly. Sometimes plans change. Schools need to be able to accommodate that. The paperwork might take time to transfer to a new school.
How do I Apply for a School Transfer? The transfer process begins in the home school, where parents/guardians may request an assignment change form and the Change of School Assignment Information Booklet that describes the process and provides useful information.
Call the school your child last attended and ask the school to prepare a Maryland Transfer Form. Tell them the last day your child will attend school and ask if you may pick up the Maryland Transfer Form, or if it can be mailed to you or brought home to you by your child.
