The Utah House of Representatives is the lower house of the Utah State Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Utah. The House is composed of 75 representatives elected from single member constituent districts. Each district contains an average population of 44,000 people.
A special session is a meeting of a group of people, such as a government or organization, that is called for a specific purpose or issue. It is different from a regular session, which happens on a regular schedule.
The power to call a special session by the Governor is set forth in the California Constitution, in Article IV, Section 3(b). This provision states: “(b) On extraordinary occasions the Governor by proclamation may cause the Legislature to assemble in special session.
A General Session is when all of the members of both legislative chambers (the House and Senate) meet together to discuss and vote on new bills. In Utah, the General Session starts on the fourth Monday in January and lasts 45 days.
