A trick that has worked for me before is to say you're moving into a household that is already being supplied by them. I did this to Sky when I moved back in with my parents, despite then being with Talk Talk, and they were happy to just waive the cancellation fees without looking into it any further.
You can find out when your Sky contract ends online by logging into your My Sky Account. Go to sky/myaccount. Enter your email address and password, then click 'Sign in' You'll be able to access your contract in the 'Your Contracts' section. If you can't see the one you need, select 'View all'.
