Jury trials provide an opportunity for citizens to participate in the judicial process. Jury trials give citizens on the jury the power to make a decision on the case. People who serve on juries routinely have a greater respect for the system when they leave.
Show up early. Get a parking spot in the parking deck. Get into the jurors' room to claim a seat. The late jurors have to stand up for an amount of time, as there are only so many seats. Bring a book or some AirPods because there is a lot of time to kill. Also bring snacks and something to drink.
Arizona law (A.R.S. 21-336) does not allow a second postponement unless it is an extreme emergency that was not anticipated when the first postponement was granted. Any documentation mailed or faxed to the Jury Office must include the juror's name and juror identification number.
Postponement of Jury Service If you are not available on the date scheduled, you may postpone the date of your initial appearance for jury service two times only. To request a postponement, follow the instructions in the Juror Affidavit Questionnaire or Summons or contact the court in which you are scheduled to appear.

It is possible to be called again; however, Arizona law provides that you need not serve more often than once every two years. If you appear for jury selection and are selected to serve, you are exempt from serving again for two years.
The court will send you a second jury duty request if you missed your first appearance. If you miss a jury date, serious consequences can take effect. You could be held in contempt of court and required to attend jury duty on a different date. You can also be fined $500 for missing a jury appearance.
