Attorneys and self-represented litigants are able to file documents electronically in Family Law case actions for divorce, legal separation, annulment, parentage, child custody, visitation, support (child and spousal), and family related issues.

Claims can be filed in person during regular business hours M-F or by mail at 1200 Third Ave., Ste. 1000, San Diego, CA 92101. Please allow 45 days to process your claim.

If the case involves a county, city or other local governmental entity or employee, the claim should be filed directly with the local city or county's governing board or clerk. Please contact the city or county directly for information on how to file a claim with the specific entity.

Informal complaints may take any form, including email or letter. If you choose not to file your complaint online, it may be mailed to the Ethics Commission, 451 A Street, Suite 1410, San Diego, CA 92101, or emailed to ethicscommission@sandiego.

Electronic filing (e-Filing) for unlimited, limited, complex civil, unlawful detainers and small claims cases will start as optional with the anticipation of e-Filing being mandated for attorneys and represented parties effective September 1, 2021, unless there is an exemption.

The Liability Claim Form can be downloaded, mailed or faxed to you. The form must be mailed or faxed to the Risk Management Department. To have the form mailed, faxed or emailed to you, contact the Public Liability Division of the Risk Management Department at 619-236-6670.

A claim against the County must be made in writing. Claims filed against the County must be completed in ance with the California Government Code, sections 900-915.4. No claim form is required; however, the County does provide claim forms for the convenience of the general public.
