Completing and signing Form I-864 makes you the sponsor. Form I134 is used to document the personal finances of a sponsor who lives in the United States.Use this form to show they have adequate means of financial support and are not likely to rely on the US government for financial support. Applicants for a B2 tourist visa should NOT submit the I-864 Affidavit of Support or any other official US document pertaining to their finances. The I-864 Affidavit of Support is not required, or even accepted, for people seeking B2 visitor visas. The purpose of the Affidavit is to assist consular officers in determining whether a visa applicant will have adequate means of financial support in the US.
