DescriptionMichigan statutes set the time within which a party may foreclose on a lien at one year from the filing of the lien. Any party with an interest in the property encumbered by the a lien may, after the expiration of that time, file an affidavit with the register of deeds stating that time has expired. The county clerk may then issue a certificate to that effect which may be filed and renders the lien ineffective. | |||||||||||||||||
