Washington On-the-Job Training (OUT) is a state-funded program designed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge required to enter the workforce or to upgrade existing job skills. The program provides free training to eligible workers in Washington State who are employed in a specific occupation and meet certain eligibility requirements. OUT can take place at the employer's worksite, in a classroom, or a combination of both. There are three types of Washington On-the-Job Training available for eligible individuals: Apprenticeship Training, Structured On-the-Job Training (SOT JT), and Customized Training. Apprenticeship Training is an agreement between an employer and a worker to learn a trade or craft. Structured On-the-Job Training prepares workers to perform specific duties and tasks in a specific job. Customized Training is employer-specific training that is tailored to the employer’s particular needs.
