A Washington Notice of Appearance (for a party without a lawyer) is a document that is filed with the court to inform the court that a party without legal representation is participating in a case. It typically includes the name of the party, the case number, the name of the court, and the date of the filing. Depending on the court, the Notice of Appearance may also require a signature and a seal, or an acknowledgement of service from the party. There are two types of Washington Notice of Appearance for a party without a lawyer: the voluntary appearance and the mandatory appearance. The voluntary appearance is filed when the party without legal counsel voluntarily chooses to participate in the case. The mandatory appearance is filed when the court orders the party to appear.
