Sec. 2260(A) Production of Sexually Explicit Depictions of a Minor is a federal law that prohibits the production, distribution, receipt, or possession of any visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. This law applies to any person who produces, distributes, receives, or possesses any such visual depiction in interstate or foreign commerce, or who attempts or conspires to do so. This includes images of sexual abuse, child pornography, and simulated sexual conduct involving a minor. There are two types of violations of this law: (1) producing a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, and (2) distributing, receiving, or possessing a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. This law also requires the Attorney General to maintain a public database of any visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
