A South Carolina Request for Extension of Time is a formal request submitted to the South Carolina Department of Revenue for an extension of time to file a tax return or make a payment. This request can be used for income, corporate, sales/use, and other taxes administered by the South Carolina Department of Revenue. There are two types of South Carolina Request for Extension of Time: an Automatic Extension of Time and an Extension of Time by Request. An Automatic Extension of Time is granted when a taxpayer files a complete South Carolina Extension of Time form by the original due date of the return or payment. This will grant the taxpayer an additional six months to file the return or make the payment. An Extension of Time by Request is granted when a taxpayer files a complete South Carolina Extension of Time form after the original due date of the return or payment. This will grant the taxpayer an additional three months to file the return or make the payment.
