A Rhode Island Entry of Appearance-Civil Case is a form which must be filed in Rhode Island courts when a party is represented by an attorney in civil cases. This form allows the court to recognize the attorney as the representative for the party in the civil case. It also allows the court to identify the attorney as the person who will receive all court documents and notices related to the case. There are two types of Rhode Island Entry of Appearance-Civil Case: 1) Entry of Appearance-Civil Case by Attorney and 2) Entry of Appearance-Civil Case by Law Firm. The Entry of Appearance-Civil Case by Attorney is filed when an individual attorney is representing the party in the case. The Entry of Appearance-Civil Case by Law Firm is filed when a law firm is representing the party in the case. Both forms must include the name of the party being represented, the name of the attorney or law firm representing the party, the attorney's license number, and the date of filing.
