Oklahoma Provisional Status Instructions are the rules and regulations that must be followed in order to obtain a provisional driver’s license in the state of Oklahoma. There are two types of Oklahoma Provisional Status Instructions: those for drivers ages 16-17, and those for drivers ages 18-24. For drivers ages 16-17, the Oklahoma Provisional Status Instructions require that the driver must have held an instruction permit for at least six months, must have had no moving violations or alcohol/drug-related convictions in the past six months, must have successfully completed a Driver Education course (or have a parent/guardian sign a waiver if the course is not taken), and must have parental/guardian consent. Drivers in this age group must also pass a driving skills test and a vision test. For drivers ages 18-24, the Oklahoma Provisional Status Instructions require that the driver must have held an instruction permit for at least six months, must have had no moving violations or alcohol/drug-related convictions in the past six months, must have successfully completed a Driver Education course (or have a parent/guardian sign a waiver if the course is not taken), and must pass a driving skills test and a vision test. Additionally, drivers in this age group must have proof of financial responsibility (such as proof of insurance) to be eligible for a provisional license. Once the requirements have been met, drivers can apply for a provisional license at their local Department of Public Safety.
