The Nebraska Reinstatement of Membership Status Request is a process for individuals whose Nebraska Bar Association membership has been suspended or inactive due to non-payment of dues. There are two types of status requests: from suspended to inactive and from suspended to active. The request from suspended to inactive requires that the individual pay all dues and fees that are unpaid, as well as a reinstatement fee. The individual must also submit a written request to the Nebraska Bar Association in order to be considered for reinstatement. Once the request is approved, the individual will be placed on inactive status and may not practice law in the state of Nebraska until they have been reinstated to active status. The request from suspended to active requires that the individual pay all dues and fees that are unpaid, as well as a reinstatement fee. The individual must also submit a written request to the Nebraska Bar Association and must also demonstrate that they have completed any additional requirements of the Nebraska Supreme Court. This will include proof of CLE credits and any other requirements that may apply. The individual must also demonstrate that they have been actively practicing law within the state of Nebraska for the past two years. Once the request is approved, the individual will be placed on active status and may practice law in the state of Nebraska.
