Nebraska Attorney Admission, Pro HAC Vice (PhD) is a process that allows out-of-state attorneys to represent clients in Nebraska without being formally admitted to the Nebraska Bar. PhD is granted on a case-by-case basis and requires the attorney to obtain permission from the Nebraska Supreme Court. Nebraska Supreme Court Rule 7-101 outlines the requirements and procedures for admission pro HAC vice. Generally, an attorney must demonstrate that they are a member in good standing of the bar of another state, that they are not and have not been subject to any disciplinary proceedings, and that they have the requisite experience to competently represent the client. There are three types of Nebraska Attorney Admission, Pro HAC Vice: 1. Limited Pro HAC Vice: This type of PhD allows the out-of-state attorney to represent a single client for a single matter before a court or tribunal in Nebraska. 2. General Pro HAC Vice: This type of PhD allows the out-of-state attorney to represent multiple clients for multiple matters before a court or tribunal in Nebraska. 3. Non-Resident Attorney License: This type of PhD allows the out-of-state attorney to represent clients in Nebraska on a permanent basis. The attorney must pass the Nebraska Bar Examination and be admitted to the Nebraska Bar in order to qualify for this type of PhD.
