Illinois Summons (30-Day) is a legal document issued by a court in the state of Illinois ordering the appearance of a person or entity in court for a particular case. This summons is generally issued for a civil lawsuit or other civil action, such as a divorce, child support, or child custody case. The summons gives the defendant 30 days to appear in court and answer the complaint filed against them. There are two types of Illinois Summons (30-Day): a Summons to Appear and a Summons to Answer. The Summons to Appear requires the defendant to appear at a particular court date and time to answer the complaint. The Summons to Answer requires the defendant to respond to the complaint in writing within the 30-day period. If the summons is not answered within the allotted time, the court may enter a default judgment against the defendant.
