Illinois Citation to Discover Assets to Third Party is a type of legal process used to locate or discover assets held by third parties. This process is used to locate assets for use in civil matters, such as debt collection, or to provide information to the court. The Illinois Supreme Court has adopted rules governing this process, which is sometimes referred to as an “Illinois Citation”. The rules allow the court to order third parties who have possession or control of assets belonging to a party to the case to produce the assets to the court. There are two types of Illinois Citation to Discover Assets to Third Party: the general citation and the limited citation. The general citation is used when the court needs to locate assets of a party to the case, and the limited citation is used when the court needs to locate assets of a non-party to the case. Both types of Illinois Citation require that the court order a third party to produce the assets to the court. The court must also provide notice to the third party of the citation. The citation must also include a description of the assets to be produced.
