What You'll Need to Transfer your Vehicle Title in Delaware. A completed assignment of Certificate of Title section on the back of the title. Be sure to include the buyer's name and address, date of sale, purchase price, and Odometer Disclosure. The buyer and seller must sign, date, and time it.

Delaware Title Transfer Fees If you have a loan on the new car, the title costs $55. If there is no loan on the car it only costs $35 for the title. For each sale, the buyer pays a 4.25% tax on the purchase price or NADA trade-in value, whichever is higher. Registration and plates will cost $40.

In order to change your vehicle's registration and title, you must present the vehicle's current certificate of title, registration card, valid proof of Delaware liability insurance and your driver's license showing your new name or a marriage certificate or court document as proof of the name change.
