The District of Columbia Notice of Appeal (In A Civil Case) is a document filed with the court by a party in a civil case who wishes to appeal a decision of the lower court. The Notice of Appeal is the first step in the appeals process, and it must be filed within thirty days of the lower court’s ruling. The Notice of Appeal must include the names of all parties involved in the case, the case number, the name of the court from which the appeal is taken, the date of the lower court’s ruling, the nature of the order appealed from, and the grounds for appeal. There are two types of District of Columbia Notice of Appeal (In A Civil Case): the Notice of Appeal (Interlocutory) and the Notice of Appeal (Final). The Notice of Appeal (Interlocutory) is filed when appealing an interlocutory order, such as a motion to dismiss or a motion for summary judgment. The Notice of Appeal (Final) is filed when appealing the final decision of the lower court.
