A Colorado Notice of Appeal is a document filed by a party to a civil or criminal case in the state of Colorado, informing the court that the party intends to appeal the court's decision. There are two types of Colorado Notice of Appeal: 1) a Notice of Appeal from the District Court to the Court of Appeals, and 2) a Notice of Appeal from the Court of Appeals to the Supreme Court. The Notice of Appeal must be filed within 42 days of the court order or judgment being appealed. The Notice of Appeal must include the name of the appeals court to which the appeal is being taken, the name of the lower court which issued the decision being appealed, the case number, and the names of all parties involved in the case. The Notice of Appeal must also be accompanied by a statement of the points of law or fact being challenged and the reasons for the challenge.
