Alaska CHINA Therapeutic Court — Final Eligibility Decision is a decision-making process by which a court determines whether a juvenile qualifies to participate in the Alaska CHINA Therapeutic Court Program. The program is designed to provide an alternative to traditional juvenile justice proceedings for at-risk youth. Eligibility is determined based on the juvenile’s criminal history, risk assessment, and other factors. There are three types of eligibility decisions: low risk, medium risk, and high risk. The low risk decision allows a juvenile to enter the program and receive specialized court-supervised treatment and services. The medium risk decision requires a juvenile to receive intensive supervision and services while participating in the program. The high risk decision is reserved for juveniles who have committed serious offenses and require more intensive treatment and supervision.
