Enhanced Driver's Licenses are only valid for land and marine crossings, however, so you will not be able to fly to Canada with it as your only form of identification. An Enhanced Driver's License or EDL can enable a US citizen to visit Canada for both leisure and business purposes.

The REAL ID is what is required at minimum to fly domestically. The Enhanced meets the REAL ID requirements, with the addition of land or sea border crossing.

Beginning May 3, 2023, your driver's license will need to be REAL ID-compliant if you want to use it to fly within the U.S. It's part of a law passed by Congress.

In the United States, you need a valid U.S. government-issued photo ID or a passport from your country of origin to travel through security.

Identification Documentation for EDL/EID-Must provide proof of: Date of Birth, Full Legal Name, Social Security Number, Photographic Identity, United States Citizenship and Minnesota Residency.

Barring any further delays, REAL ID will go into effect on May 7, 2025. At that point, US travelers 18 and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license, identification card, state-issued enhanced driver's license (EDL), or another acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States.

The TSA will accept your driver's license as an ID to fly now if it is a non REAL ID until May 5, 2025. After that date, it will need to be a Real ID.
