Annual Filers (Household Employers). An employer whose only employees are household workers may report and remit gross income tax withholding and other payments (contributions for unemployment insurance, healthcare subsidy, workforce development, disability insurance, and family leave insurance) on an annual basis.

Overview. This graduated tax is levied on gross income earned or received after June 30, 1976, by New Jersey resident and nonresident individuals, estates, and trusts. Rates for tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2004, range from 1.4% 8.97%.

For earnings between $40,001 and $75,000, the tax rate on every dollar of income earned is 5.525%. For earnings between $75,001 and $500,000, the tax rate on every dollar of income earned is 6.37%. For earnings of $500,001 and over, the tax rate on every dollar of income earned is 8.97%.

The withholding tax rates for 2019 re- flect graduated rates from 1.5% to 11.8%. The 11.8% tax rate applies to individuals with taxable income over $5,000,000.

The current withholding rates are as follows: NJ Temporary Disability - 0.17% of NJ taxable gross up to $34,400 for 2019. The maximum tax is $58.48. NJ Family Leave Insurance - 0.08% of NJ taxable gross wages up to $34,400 for 2019.

Individuals who collect these benefits will receive a 1099 form directly from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development listing the taxable income and any withholding. Temporary Disability benefits and Unemployment Insurance benefits are not subject to the New Jersey state income tax.

Maximum Weekly Benefits for SUI and SDI For 2018, the maximum weekly benefit for unemployed workers is $681, while the maximum weekly rate for temporary disability is $637.

The NJ state disability maximum benefit 2019 is $650 per week. The maximum benefit for 2019 is up from $637 in 2018.
