Illinois requires national certification through PTCP, completion of a pharmacy technician training program, and registration with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

By gaining appropriate qualifications and experience as a pharmacy assistant you can apply for positions as a pharmacy technician. However, you cannot progress from pharmacy technician to pharmacist, as you need to do the 4-year full-time MPharm degree followed by a foundation training year in a paid work placement.

Pay. Within the NHS Agenda for Change scales, pharmacy technicians' salaries are usually on Band 4, £25,914 to £28,187 a year. This can rise to Band 5, £28,384 to £35,365 a year with experience. The current pay scales are from April 2022.

To register as a pharmacy technician, as required by the General Pharmaceutical Council, you need the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills and the Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (5356). You can take them separately, or as part of an apprenticeship for Pharmacy.

PTCB Requirements for Indiana Pharmacy Techs Candidates must have earned a GED or high school diploma. Candidates must have a clean criminal record – with no felonies. Candidates must have completed a recognized PTCB course. Candidates must register and complete the application from on the official PTCB website.

Employers will often ask for 4 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English, maths and science, Level 2 Diploma in Applied Science, or equivalent qualifications. You'll do on-the-job training over 2 years and work towards a Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.

Eligibility Requirements A pharmacy technician applicant must have the following: A high school diploma, equivalent diploma (e.g., GED), or be working to achieve a high school diploma or equivalent for no more than two years; Current certification from a Board-approved pharmacy technician certification exam.
