AAR fares are the same as full fare on public transit. Show the driver your AAR ID card or AAR MetroCard or any photo ID and pay the exact fare as you board the vehicle. AAR MetroCards cannot be used to pay for Paratransit vehicle trips. AAR drivers do not provide change and do not accept roundtrip fares.

You are eligible for Access-A-Ride if you have a disability that prevents you from using the public buses or subways. We will review your application, any medical documentation you provide, and ask you to undergo an individualized assessment.

Customers pay the single-ride transit fare—currently $2.75—to use the system and may travel with a pre-approved personal care attendant (PCA) free of charge. Customers may also travel with additional guests as can be accommodated on a case-by-case basis; guests must pay $2.75 to ride.

A PCA may be a relative, spouse, friend or professional attendant. The PCA also rides free of charge.

You have 60 days from the date on your NYCTA letter to request an appeal. On the form that comes with your NYCTA letter, you can request an in-person appeal. NYCTA will then call you or mail you a letter to schedule the in-person appeal. You can also submit a written appeal.
