A transient student (aka “guest student”) is a student enrolled at one University, but taking classes at another that will count towards their degree at their home University.

"GEORGIA MATCH helps students see they have earned a spot in many colleges. They can 'claim their spot' at UNG through GEORGIA MATCH or by applying directly to UNG through GA Futures," Dr. Brett Morris, UNG associate vice president for Strategic Enrollment Management, said.

Generally, this happens when students don't live near their home college over the summer, but want to take a class or two to speed up the obtainment of their degree, or if for some reason they can't take a class at their home institution that they need to graduate.

Be sure to send your transcripts from that institution to UF after grades post. Grades from non-UF courses will not count towards your UF GPA. They will, however, count towards your critical tracking or pre-professional GPAs, if applicable. Pre-health students should review the Pre-Health transient information.

The average GPA at Georgia College and State University is 3.5. (Most schools use a weighted GPA out of 4.0, though some report an unweighted GPA. With a GPA of 3.5, Georgia College and State University requires you to be around average in your high school class.
