Passing the marksmanship training course will earn you an Army marksmanship badge. You must hit 23 to 29 out of the 40 targets to earn that qualification. If you do a little better (30-35), you qualify for the sharpshooter badge. To get an expert badge, you must hit at least 36 targets.

Answer: Weapons qualification will comprise the most recent qualification score (but not older than 24 months) with the Soldier's assigned weapon. The most recent qualification will be used. However, if the Soldier fails to qualify through his or her own fault, no valid score will exist.

Training has also been revamped to match to new standard, with the training and testing now broken down into six tables: preliminary marksmanship instruction and evaluation, pre-live fire simulation training, magazine and shooting position drills, grouping and zeroing, practice qualification and qualification.
