The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) is a registered, non-profit, animal welfare charity. Our mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia.

Your gift is tax-deductible per local regulations, as we are a tax-exempt organization. We will email or mail you a donation receipt, depending on how your donation was made. Please keep this, as it is your official record to claim this donation as a tax deduction.

We are dependent on public donations, animal control services and investment income to fund our operating and capital expenditures.

SPCA is the only charity with the legal powers to help animals in need and bring animal offenders to justice. Our Inspectors are appointed under the Animal Welfare Act 1999 which provides powers to investigate cruelty, abuse, neglect and abandonment.

Creation of the BC SPCA A small group of clergy, journalists and businessmen concerned about the mistreatment of work horses successfully lobbies the B.C government to establish laws protecting animals from abuse and neglect.

It is only possible to help the tens of thousands of animals who come through the doors at SPCA each year because of generous people like you. Your donations help us to educate our communities; rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals; and bring animal offenders to justice.
