RESIDENCY QUALIFICATIONS Iowa must be the only place you have a true and fixed residence. Additionally, you cannot claim residency, nor hold resident privileges in another state or country. You must have an Iowa Driver's license or state-issued ID in addition to 90-day residency (Go to Section 2).

1. Reside in Iowa for 12 consecutive months and be primarily engaged in activities other than those of a full-time student, immediately prior to the beginning of the term for which resident classification is sought. 2. Reliance upon Iowa resources for financial support.

Your social security card and a government issued certified birth certificate or valid U.S. passport that includes your current full legal name will be sufficient for most applicants. In addition, a completed Parental Consent Form (Iowa DOT Form 430018) is required to take the written knowledge test.
