Originally founded in 1972 as the desh Rehabilitation Assistance Committee and later known as the desh Rural Advancement Committee, BRAC's operations have grown globally and with that growth, the organization changed to be known simply as BRAC.

T-bracing takes the place of continuous lateral bracing. Lateral braces need to tie in at least three trusses of the same web configuration (see Figure 1 below). If this is not possible, the web in question must be braced along approximately 90 percent of its length (see Figure 2 below).

What is a braced frame structure? A braced frame is a very strong structural system that is commonly used in structures subject to lateral loads such as wind and seismic pressure. The members in a braced frame are generally made of structural steel, which can work effectively both in tension and compression.

The primary function of bracing is to provide stability and resist lateral loads, either from diagonal steel members or from a concrete 'core'. For bracing frames, beams and columns are designed only to support vertical load, since the bracing system should carry all lateral loads.

The full brace requirements are defined as the minimum required stiffness and strength that permits a column load level corresponding to simple buckling between the brace points.

Wall bracing is used to protect life by minimizing structural damage to a building in freak storms and earthquakes. All buildings are required to have some form of lateral bracing. Exterior and interior wall coverings are usually used with conventional light-frame construction.
